Cherokee's new status page

A few days ago we released a new version of the Cherokee web server. Besides fixing a few minor issues, Cherokee 0.99.22 shipped a few new functionalities. Even if they are quite useful, most of them would be boring to explain: parsing improvements, better scheduling, improved system resources management, etc. However there's a fancy new feature I wanted to show you here: We've got a new Status page! Hurray!!

Cherokee-admin 0.99.22 status page

Of course it's been an incremental improvement, so all the previous features (localization, server management, etc.) are still in place. Speaking of which, I'm just wondering, have you seen how the page looks in Chinese?

sweet like sugar. It'd be even nicer if all documentations are wiki type so ppl can contribute AND the documentations are easier for newbies. Some of the guide such as How to set up with Wordpress use old version thus making hard for new users to follow if they use newer version. I believe Cherokee if it has good docs. just my 2 cent

There are some missing translations like "Information" and "Server Traffic" in the chinese version, or are they intentional?

@Robin: No, they are not intentional. We just need some native Chinese speaker to give us a hand to update it. The same applies to the rest of the supported languages: German, Dutch, Swedish, etc..

I hope it has no XSS, CSRF or other vulnerabilities in it.

Hi Alvaro, I've been reading about cherokee, and i'm thinking in powering my web app with cherokee... but i have a problem, i'm using Postgresql, and I really don't want to change it... Is there any way I can use cherokee with Postgresql?? Or is there any chance it would be implemented in a near future? Thanks for your answer in advance. mail: j2deme[at]gmail[dot]com

I am using the rrdtool for the statistics, and I found the "Accepted Connections" is rather confusing. For the y-axis, it read "conn/s", which should be connections per second. But I don't know why the values is like 21.20m, which is way too large is m means million. I think that may correspond to milli-sec, but that's a measure of time, not number of connection. Could you clarify that? Thank you.

Same like Jaime, I also interested to use Cherokee. But for now, I will just try to using it at my local machine. After that If the result satisfy me, I will ask my hosting provider how tho include Cherokee to my Cpanel, replacing Apache.

With all these wonderful new additions to cherokee, I'm getting very concerned with performance compared to the competition (e.g. nginx). From my benchmarks, 0.99 versions have been spiraling downwards in terms of performance & concurrent users. RAM usage and total executable size is growing. The Getting Started page mentions 200KB, and great benchmarks on old versions is too dated. Can we be sure cherokee would not become bloatware? Is it still performance focused?

@evofx, Of course we are.. although that does not mean we can't also make like easier to system administrators. All these new features are 100% based on plug-ins, so they won't hurt the server performance if you think they are not important for you. Besides, all of them have been developed with the same performance focus as the rest of the server. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one worried about keep improving Cherokee's performance! :-)
