Octality's benchmarking server
Since we received our new server a week ago, I have been thinking about posting the couple of pictures of it that we took at the storage room. You have to admit that it's quite impressive :-)
It weights around 990Kg, measuring 3 square meters. It can handle up to 52 Sparc processors, 9 domains and a maximum of 2,5TB of memory. The overall system bandwidth can go up to 172.8 GBps peak (43.2 GBps sustained).
People at the Octality office are actually quite happy with our new intranet server. You know, not all the start-ups get one of these servers on its first month of life! And, of course, it's going to be extremely useful for us for performing stress tests on Cherokee and our Data Base load balancer.
Besides, having this sort of server available in the network will also help us to work on more strict benchmarks, and therefore to back up what I have been saying for the last months: Cherokee has become the fastest and most scalable web server nowadays!

Still the word "microsystems" is printed, in very big letters I might add, on such an enormous computer... One wonders what the size would be if Scott McNealy would envision "macro"systems.
Woooow! Quite impressive!
you keep your clothes in there or sth?:)
Dear Sirs, With the CLUSTER called terabox powered by KERRIGHED, a little start up based in brittany (in france) you would have the same pack but placed on the desk of your office ! :) fanless !
Whoao! que sexy, hubiera sido interesante conocerla en vivo X-).
