GNU Festival 08, Chihuahua

After having been a few months without traveling or attending conferences, I kind of forgot how long it was to fly from Madrid to some of the cities on the other side of the Atlantic. Yesterday I spent the whole day flying from Madrid to Chihuahua/Mexico for attending the "GNU Festival" that the AUCH university has organized.

They have got 1,600 registered attendees so far, so I guess I made the right decision coming to Mexico to give of the conference keynotes.

Today I will be giving a talk titled "Helping the Internet to get fit" where I will explain how the Free Software and the current Internet trends may end up blending together, and the reasons why I think that the F/OSS movement ought to care specially for High Performance/High Availability technologies, Cloud computing, and the new Software as a Service wave.

I bet RMS will strongly disagree with my -let's call it- "slightly more pragmatic" point of view.. but tomorrow he will have his opportunity to expose his ideas anyway. :-)
